VRS Veterans Housing
& Support Program
Providing housing and services to those who served
The VRS Veterans Housing & Support Program is done in collaboration with:
For more than 50 years, VRS Communities has been a cornerstone in creating housing solutions and services in British Columbia.
Initially established as a non-profit organization dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities, seniors, and families, VRS Communities has since expanded its expertise and leadership through the Veteran Housing & Support Program (VHSP), which focuses on supporting veterans who are homeless or at risk
of homelessness.
In collaboration with the Centre of Clinical Excellence and inspired by the Housing First principle, VRS Communities offers a supportive transitional housing facility for up to 12 months, helping veterans reintegrate back into society.
The comprehensive support services provided include:
- Individualized Development Plan
- Exercise and physical activity.
- Sleep Optimization
- Nutrition
- Stress Management, and Mindfulness
- Life Coaching and Practical Skills
- Routine building
All services are delivered in a safe, stable housing environment.
The goal of the VHP is to empower Canadian veterans to achieve independent living and active community engagement. This is accomplished by providing a safe, drug- and alcohol-free, and structured supportive transitional housing program, which enables participants to overcome barriers, improve their quality of life, and successfully reintegrate into civilian life.
Residents of the VHP will also have access to all of the CCE's services not included in the program. Additional care may be partially or fully covered through individual benefits or MSP.
